Some people say that religion is the biggest obstacle. Divorce between gay couples changed marriage, data was actually shown where straight marriage strengthened, divorce rates decreased, and marriage lasted longer. It was a huge deal to spend your adult life fighting for a cause that people mad fun of and looked down upon.

The United States isn’t the only country with gay marriage laws; England as well as laws against gay marriage. It also is because of religious reason, because the church won’t marry the couple. Gay couples create incidents that shouldn’t be happening. The people are more concerned with the public value than private meaning.

Twenty-nine states have banned same sex marriage due to the Defense Marriage Act and twelve states restricting marriage to gay couples. On August 4, 2010 the U.S. District Court in California said that Preposition eight –referendum restricting marriage to gay couples- was unconstitutional. A study showed that banning gay marriage had rises in mood, anxiety, and substance disorders and people living in the states that didn’t ban gay marriage did now show these disorders.
