Evaluation 1!

The author of this article feels very strongly about the topic of gay marriage; he himself is a gay individual who has faced many roadblocks over his lifetime. He feels as if religion was the biggest thing in the way; churches kept the ban on same sex marriage even though they “practiced” religious freedom. He felt like he would never be able to fall in love and get married because of all the emotional stress he had gone through, he thought that his heart was not capable of that anymore; then he met his husband and feels as if he is the luckiest person in the world. He says, “It is a rare privilege to spend your adult life fighting for a right that was first dismissed as a joke, only finally to achieve it in six states and Washington, D.C. But how much rarer to actually stumble upon someone who could make it a reality.” He himself had his own bias on the topic and I think that it greatly affects the way he wrote the article. Since he is gay as well as just talking about it he puts his feelings and experience into the article. Between him having his own opinion and stating true facts this article is an example of about 50/50 solid evidence; like I said above he puts a lot of his own feelings and experiences into this work and a lot of facts. The article is both subjective and objective. The author included his own opinions and feelings and he also included facts. This source is very useful in the studying of gay marriage because give the opinion from a gay individual and supporting facts. This research has helped me find others opinions and feeling on the topic of gay marriage rights and religion.
